TITLE : FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING: FOR BTEC NATIONAL.

For several years we have felt that no single accounting textbook catered adequately for this very important course and consequently we began to develop our own materiai to satisfy the needs of our own students.

With the substantial cJrriculum changes first published by BTEC in 1985, we decided to continue working on our material with a view to writing a text to cover the first year 'Finance Unit' and the second year 'Accounting Option'. We would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank the students and staff of Bournemouth and Poole College of Further Education for their help in developing and testing the material contained in this text.

Although the book is targeted at BTEC National, we have successfully used much of the material for GCE 'O' level and 'A' level 'Accounts', Institute of Bankers (Foundation) and other examining bodies.
