| TITLE : THINKING, CHANGING, REARRANGING: IMPROVING SELF-ESTEEM IN YOUNG PEOPLE. |
Preface
The belief is common in children that they "have to" feel a certain way "because of" what happens. As long as they attribute the quality of their emotional state to some force outside themselves, they remain blind to their role in crsating their day and feel powerless to change it.
We do children a great service by giving them skills and knowledge for taking control of their inner emotional environment regardless of "what happens." Based on concepts found in Rational-Emotive Therapy, Thinking, Changing, Rearranging guides children in examining their own thinking, inner language, and belief systems to learn for themselves how they go about creating those "rotten" days.
Counselors, teachers, and parents will find this a valuable tool.
"My 4th grade class loved it! We used Thinking, Changing, Rearranging as the core of a 6-week Self-Esteem unit. It gave my students skills to use in everyday problems and helped them identify and express their feelings."
